Wow.. April already?!

It doesn't seem that long ago since everybody was putting their Christmas trees up and getting ready for the festive period... So how the heck is it April already?! Don't get me wrong I absolutely love this time of the year, it's just 2015 is just going so quickly and it's scaring me.

2015 is going to be such a big year for me, I will FINALLY finish my A-Levels and will start uni on the way to achieving my dream job. It's a big year, but also a really exciting one. I just want it to slow down though. Knowing that in another 2 months I won't be attending the same sixth form and all my friends will be venturing off to different parts of the country makes me cherish every moment at collage with us all being together every day.

Best friends for life
April is one of my favourite months every year and this year it will be no different. Although it symbolises crunch-point for revision and exams it has many added bonuses too:

  1. The first half of April I am off school for the Easter holidays meaning I can sleep for days, lounge about in hoodies and joggers, eat as much junk as I like and hibernate for two weeks .. WIN!
  2. Two of my favourite people ever have their 18th birthdays. My beautiful cousin Poppy and best friend Jess. Hope you have lots and lots of fun, enjoy it, you only turn 18 once.
  3. I get reunited with loads of my extended family at Easter time who I wish I could see more often. I still remember my cousins as little 4 years (Hey Romy and Isla :P) and they grow up so blooming quickly every single time I see them!
  4. I'm heading off to London for a long weekend to watch some of my faves (Rob, my Dad and my cousin Luce... oh and some folks from Rob's running club) run the London Marathon! Good luck to all of you! I know how much time and effort goes into this sort of stuff. You will all ace it, I promise you! (Standing in the same spot for hours watching sweaty men and women who look like they are dying, is actually more fun than it sounds I promise you)
    Rob at last year's marathon

So I am 100% going to cherish this April, knowing that the next two months will probably be the worst two years of my whole entire life, I blooming hate exams and revision! .. I know coursework takes a lot of time but why the heck didn't I take BTEC coursework subjects? :( :( Poor Moll

Anyway, I have rambled enough for today. Hope everyone else's April is a good one xxxx

Revision revision revision

Mock exam week results come out next week at my school and even before I them out I know one thing.. I have to get my bum into gear and get some work done (and quick!!!!)

I have actually been pretty good these last couple of weeks using my free periods at school to do work whereas I always used to just mess around on my iPad browsing the Daily Mail and shopping online! I've also been doing a bit of work in the evenings but not much and I always try to leave my weekends free if possible to just relax. But I think that needs to change.

I worked out today that it is only 63 days until my first exam, so just over 2 months away, yikes. And my last exam is 93 days away. Meaning just 3 months of hard work to go and then I can relax. I will be able to have a much better summer if I know for a fact that I did my very best and there is nothing more I could have done.

Revision has always been a complete bore to me and I just used to read the textbook the night before and hope for the best, which never happened, hence why I had to redo year of sixth form. I wouldn't recommend that revision technique to anyone, I've been there, done that, and it worked horrendously.

Last year though I tried something new, I actually revised months ahead of my exams and surprise surprise it worked and I was happy with my results. So obviously I am doing this again this year. Revision is going well and I have already made loads of revision cards for the 54 different case studies I need to know in full in psychology and I have made revision sheets for my other subjects too. I've made them all look nice and pretty because I know if it's just in plain black and white I will never look at them again. I've been surprised with how effective they have been to be perfectly honest with you. Who knew just adding a bit of colour would help?!

Revision sheets so far
Revision cards
So yeah, a few things are going to have to take a bit of backseat for now as revision is my number 1 priority and blogging may be one of the things that I stop for a little bit, but we will see how things go ey?

Adios

Thoughts on an average day at sixth form

1. It's not even midday yet, how on earth am I supposed to function properly this early?

2. WALK FASTER dwarf, stop blocking the whole hallway

3. Only 5 hours, 12 minutes left...

4. Maybe if I look like I'm doing work the teacher won't pick me to answer the hard questions

5. Is it lunch yet?

6. Is the teacher speaking a different language or I am just that thick?!

7. I hate you.. and you and you.. I hate everyone here

8. Can be fire alarm go off in the middle of this essay?

9. Do I really need to know this for my exam?

10. Why are all the year 9's prettier than me?

11. How do children not fall over with rucksacks that size?

12. Will knowing what one philosopher thousands of year ago thought about God help in the 'outside world'? ...No? .... thought not

13. Stop playing 'Everything is awesome' full volume .. it really isn't

14. I don't understand a single thing

15. My life is a complete failure

Hurry up Summer

Sunbathing with Rob
There are many reasons that I adore summer: the sun, BBQs, ice cream, holidays, no school and late nights are just a few of them. When it comes to the summer time and there is no school, everyone is happier and more relaxed with nothing to do but just chill.

I'm currently on the countdown to summer - well it's actually a countdown until my exams have finished (17th June - 113 days) but they are the same thing in my eyes. As soon as my exams are done then summer can officially begin. It's probably going to the longest summer ever as I don't even start university until the middle of September and I really want to pack as much in as possible to make it worthwhile.

If my work was a bit more flexible so I could take more time off and if I had more money then I would definitely have gone travelling. There are a couple of people I know who have been on gap years this year and have been to loads of places and it has made me so so jealous. I
will get round to it one day! However, that plan has been scrapped and instead I will be doing a few more days of work at Primark so I can save up some money for university. I am also lucky enough to be going away to a few places as well: Malta and Cornwall with Rob and then Barcelona with my mum and my sister. It will be great to get out of Preston for a bit and enjoy some 'proper' sun.

Me and my cousin canoeing last year <3
I've also got some inspiration from films as well. You know in films where groups of friends have a massive BBQ and sit around a little camp fire just chatting and being relaxed together as a group? I definitely want to do this in the summer ahead. Rob's also agreed to be in charge of the BBQ so that's a bonus and one step forward in arranging it (as long as we don't die from food poisoning hehe)

Fingers crossed it will be the best summer of my life and I am determined to make it this way!
Now all I need is to get these exams out of the way and I can enjoy myself to the max.

Thought I would share a few snaps from last year's summer:

Enjoying the beach - one of my favourite things about summer
SWIMMING :D
In Salou about to go on Europe's highest rollercoaster yay!
Trying (and failing) to get a tan in my garden

Exam countdown and Cumbria Uni

Oh help!

It was 3 months yesterday till my first exam of the year and I am bricking it. Knowing that these are my last exams and how well I do in these decides my whole future is terrifying. If I don't do well in these exams then I won't get into university and then it is much harder to be a teacher! HELP!

I have 7 exams to take this year: 3 in Business (1 is a resit from last year), 2 in Religious Studies and 2 in Psychology. I am only confident in one of my business papers and the rest I am rubbish at. However, my brain is finally getting itself into gear and getting motivated to do revision so that I can do well. I just wish I was one of those people that doesn't get distracted easily from schoolwork and can actually sit down at a desk all evening and do work or revision. My mind just wanders all the time and I find it so hard to concentrate so I have to take a lot of breaks so that my brain comes back re-focused.

I've made a resolution to use all but 1 of my free periods at school effectively. That one free lesson a week that I don't use effectively I want to just relax so I can work better for the rest of the time. My aim is by the end of the half term holiday to have drawn out a massive revision timetable and to stick to it properly up until my exams that start on the 18th May.

We have our second round of mock exams in 2 weeks and once these are over I will know where my weak points are and to make sure that I know which parts of the course I need to focus on most.

After a university applicant day yesterday at the University of Cumbria I am more determined than ever to do well. I got to go to my future uni (I hope, fingers crossed) for a day and have talks about what uni is like and what to expect. On top of that I got to go on a tour of the accommodation they have on offer as well as have a session led by lecturers which showed what the typical lecture/lesson would have been like for my course - Primary Education. And as well as that I got a free hoody too as I have already put it as my firm choice which was an added bonus!

I am so excited for university and I cannot wait for September to come at all. Now it's just time to get my head down and focus so that I ace these exams!
